Window Shopping New York Wonders – like shopping in a museum of the rare and unusual –
That is what I gave this as a title and the beauty of the workmanship on this is amazing in person. There are so many beautiful stores with clothing and shoes but this is what I like even better.
When I was in New York, I went to find the stores with the $3,000 shoes to see why they were so important and special, but I was fortunate to find this instead which to be honest, I can understand a lot better, anyway. And, I know that there is nobody who would have enjoyed explaining to me why those shoes could possibly be worth that kind of money regardless.
This carved sculpture could be of a princess, a deity, a goddess or a famous icon and I don’t know. The smoothness is amazing. The realistic interpretation of the figures is amazing and the flow of the carved fabrics is amazing.
You know, when I go to New York next time, I’ve got to find more words from my dictionary beyond Wow and Amazing. But, not only are they the only two words I could remember – those are just the best words to describe it. I’m not sure if this carving is done in ivory or in some other material. It does look like it could’ve been made over 75 years ago and has been treated with great care and admiration. The craftsmanship is truly remarkable.
Now, that’s some real window shopping.
